Eligible to Join the Department of Health After Obtaining Limited or Special Registration

Those interested in coming to Hong Kong Non-locally trained dentists may apply tothe Dental Councilfor limited or special registration after passing an interview and receiving a conditional offer of employment. Once approved, they can work at the Department of Health.

Department of Health the website shows that full-time contract dental officers (general dentistry) earn a monthly salary ranging from HK$71,010 to HK$93,255. The entry requirements specify that non-locally trained dentists entering through the new pathway must have at least one year of full-time clinical experience after obtaining their qualification, possess good English proficiency, and be able to communicate in Chinese.

Amendment Sparks Controversy Over Mandatory Internship and Curriculum Accreditation

Earlier amendments to the dental registration law sparked controversy over mandatory internships and the accreditation of HKU’s dental program Secretary for Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau appeared yesterday at the HKU Faculty of Dentistry event.

The faculty received funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to launch the "Jockey Club Children Oral Health Project,”which provides oral check-up services and cavity prevention to students from over 750 kindergartens.
